#60 - Knuffle Bunny by Mo Williams

SummaryDad distractedly tosses Trixie's favorite stuffed bunny into the wash at the Laundromat. He unfortunately doesn't understand Trixie's desperate cries of "aggle flaggle klabble.Trixie gives it her all, bawling and going "boneless." Back at home, Mom immediately notices that Knuffle Bunny is missing, and so it's back to the Laundromat they go. Dad reclaims hero status when he finds the very wet toy in amongst the laundry.

Suggested Activity: Laundry Pantomime

With you narrating the journey, have your children act out the whole washing machine process. First, children pantomime putting clothes into the washer: add detergent,  close the lid and insert a coin into the slot. Now they “become” the laundry as you lead them through the wash cycle, the rinse, and yes, even the spin cycle. Then have them pretend to pull out the clothes and throw them in the dryer, or hang them on the line. Finally, they can fold up the clean clothes and exclaim how nice they look, feel, and smell.

Curriculum Area: Representation and Symbolic Thinking (takes on pretend roles and situations)

Appropriate Age Group: 3 and up
